Personally, I really enjoyed reading this memoir and I felt it was very relatable to not only adults, but also those entering adulthood like myself. The character of Kelly Kapoor was intended to be obnoxious, bratty, and extremely immature, but Kaling proves that she is quite the opposite in her second memoir, Why Not Me? In her book, Kaling confirms her depth by describing her ongoing journey to find contentment in her career, appearance, and relationships.
Though I am not sure that this is the general consensus, I have heard many refer to Mindy Kaling as “whiny,” or “annoying.” This may, in part, be due to the character that she portrayed on The Office, an American TV show that lasted from 2005 to 2013.
